I sat in on an MGMA class for Continuing Education credits: “Getting Green Done – Part 2: Getting Green Roof Bus shelters and Green Roofs done in urban areas in the City of Boston.” It’s a project to grow plants on bus shelters in Boston. Cool, It’s an interesting idea, but I fear that Trevor Smith follows the herd mentality, that anything that can put green in its title is automatically worthwhile. At least that’s the way it came across to me. I appreciate the mechanics of getting it to work, but I’d have liked to have heard more about the planning aspects and expected benefits. Another benefit that he did not state would be something like that of the WPA (Works Program Administration ). The WPA was formed by Franklin Roosevelt as part of his “New Deal.” Something we are sadly lacking with the current administration in Washington.  Let’s face it, AI is going to put a lot of people out of work. So, while I applaud Trevor Smith for the initiative and Mayor Michelle Wu for approving the project, I came away from the talk less than satisfied. Similar projects have taken place around the world, and I’d have like to hear more of Trevor’s vision for the future.
