An update on my surgery: I was admitted to MGH last Thursday (6/11) and had surgery on my left leg that morning. The good news is that the lesion was benign. After curettage to scrape out the tumor, the surgeon packed the cavity with bone cement and fastened a metal plate over it with screws. The wound is healing well. I had my first PT appointment yesterday where I was able to bend the leg about 80° and put my full body weight on it. The next surgery, on my right leg, is scheduled for tomorrow and will be more extensive. Miranda has flown in from Sacramento, and she and Maureen have visited every day. I can’t praise MGH enough – Violny, Caroline, Angela, and the rest of the nursing staff on the floor are great and I’m managing my pain.
